Chiropractic Care and Muscle Aches

While research into the long-term effects of COVID is still ongoing, we do know that there have been multiple reported cases of so-called long-COVID; the persistence of lingering symptoms of the disease sometimes even after the virus has left the body. These symptoms can include depression, fatigue, muscle pain, joint pain, and nerve paint. While many doctors are baffled by what is causing these symptoms in some patients, many patients who are suffering from these effects are trying to simply find some relief.

If you are suffering from muscle, joint, or nerve pain, our chiropractic office may be able to help. While chiropractic care does not offer a cure for COVID-19, it has been used for years by patients with these symptoms. Our chiropractors are experienced in working with patients who suffer from nerve, joint, and muscle pain from a variety of injuries, diseases, and conditions, without resorting to drugs or surgery.

Treatments from a Chiropractor on Our Team

A standard exam with a chiropractor on our team may begin by taking a set of x-rays and determining the sources of your pain. After this, our chiropractor will work with you to develop a care plan. Chiropractic care involves moving the muscles in your back to relieve pressure on the nerves that connect your spine to the rest of your body. It does not move bones or nerves. Our chiropractor works to move muscles gradually over time. This has the temporary effect of relieving pressure, which can cause immediate pain relief. Over time, however, muscles tend to move back to their old locations.  In many cases, multiple appointments are needed to train your muscles to move to the proper location.

This means that after your first appointment, you feel some pain relief, but the pain will slowly come back.  After each subsequent appointment, however, your pain will stay away for longer periods of time and not return at such a high level of intensity.

For people with long-COVID, it is hoped that chiropractic care can alleviate pain by relieving the pressure on nerves that may have been inflamed by the coronavirus.
